I really can’t believe we have a 2 year old! When they say the days are long but the years are short with little ones is really no joke. Specifically the last 4 months have been amazing to watch her development. Being able to communicate, sing songs, play with more advanced educational toys, and watching her get around on an iphone blows my mind.
She loves babies! Anytime we see or hear one when we are out she puts her hand to her mouth and says “shhh baby”. Hoping that keeps up when little man gets here! She loves Paw Patrol, Minnie/Mickey Mouse, dinosaurs and of course her baby dolls. Every morning when I ask her what she wants to wear she says “dress!”. (my girl <3!) She is a daredevil and loves climbing. We have had to do baby proofing 2.0 and 3.0 with this adventurous girl.
One of my favorite stories this year was from a teacher at her summer camp explaining to me that Stella didn’t want to do the craft, was exploring opened a high cabinet and hit her head, resulting in a mark on our forehead. I told them not to worry about it, that she is always covered in bumps and bruises, and she said “well she definitely is the most adventurous of the class!”.
She is curious, very observant, and while very sweet and loving, definitely has that 2 year old sass of wanting her way! I can’t wait to see her as a big sister. My love for her is more than I could have ever possibly imagined my heart could hold. She is magical, she is our treasure, she is our Stella on a Journey Rockett!
Birthday Tip! : We took pictures a week before her Birthday so that I wouldn’t have to stress about getting a good picture on her party day within all the chaos (she is in a stage that she does not like having her picture taken), and they also made great decorations to have framed at her party.
The Little Gym in Plano has been our stomping grounds for the past year, going at least 2x a week to get out some of Stella’s energy and for Mom’s sanity! We have recruited so many friends to our location, Frisco and Flower Mound because we have had such a great experience with them. You can tell the teachers really love what they do, and love the kiddos so much. It was no surprise that they were a huge help in throwing a fabulous party! We were so happy to have all our family and friends celebrate Stella’s 2nd Birthday at a place she loves so much, and highly recommend throwing a party here!
I had so much fun with the Magical Unicorn theme, as I personally have a huge love of Unicorns! I crafted the gold unicorn horns using this template, as well as making the gift bags. A tip for anyone trying to DIY this in the future would be to spray the gold sparkle paper with a clear acrylic spray before working with the paper. Glitter was everywhere every time I crafted, and the spray didn’t make the paper as hard as I thought to work with.
The cake was from our go to cake lady Hope from Cake Baby and Company, and she came through as always with a beautiful and delicious cake, and the cookies were incredible as well!
I made the Uni-Corn (colorful popcorn) using a huge bag of Popcornoplis’ Kettle Corn from Costco, tossing in batches of colored melting chocolate and covering in sprinkles after spreading out on wax paper covered cookie sheets. It took 6 cookie sheets and 4 batches of colored chocolate for my bag of popcorn. It was a huge hit!
Thank you to all of family and friends for coming out to celebrate with us, we had a blast!
